Joëlle Paquette
Surf Athlete
Biography
Joëlle Paquette has been surfing for six years. The sport quickly became a central passion in her daily life. She trains with consistency and discipline, knowing that surfing requires many hours of practice to improve. For the past five years, she has adopted a snowbird lifestyle, traveling every winter to surf in warmer waters.
Background
The St. Lawrence River has become her main playground. Joëlle surfs there almost every day, regardless of conditions, while closely monitoring storms on the U.S. East Coast that generate surfable waves. Over time, repeating the same movements led to pain and injuries. The NxtG team helps her train her body to reduce injury risk and allow her to surf as much as she wants.
Career Highlights
Joëlle has competed in the Classique Vague à Guy, Montréal’s longboard competition, for the past two years. In 2025, she reached the semifinals, marking an important milestone in her competitive journey.
Next Challenges
She hopes to earn her place once again at the Classique Vague à Guy this year. On a personal level, Joëlle aims to improve her swimming and shortboard maneuvers during ocean sessions this winter. She also has a clear goal: finally landing a hang five on a river longboard.
