As the weather turns colder and autumn arrives, Cyclocross is becoming increasingly popular! Road and gravel bike enthusiasts are well advised to try out this emerging sport in Quebec, to keep riding despite the cold and rougher terrain of the season.

What is Cyclocross?

Cyclocross is an all-round sport that mixes biking and racing over rough, obstacle-covered terrain. Often practiced in parks and on muddy trails, the circuits are very dynamic and usually have a distance of 2.5 to 3.5 km.

This discipline already has many fans all over the world. In fact, it’s the favorite sport of the Belgians, who gather religiously every Sunday to watch Cyclocross competitions. It’s also very popular in Holland and Japan.

Comment on fait pour commencer?

The beauty of Cyclo-cross is that anyone can do it! There are circuits and competitions to suit all levels. In Montreal, there’s even the @gravel.mafia collective, which organizes weekly training sessions to democratize Cyclocross and gravel biking and make it accessible to even more people.

Mountain and gravel bikes are perfectly suitable for beginners who want to learn Cyclocross. With a little practice and targeted exercises, you’ll be able to ease your transition from road bike to Cyclocross in time for the racing season!
