Hyrox, Spartan, Obstacle Races: Train and Perform in Quebec

In recent years, obstacle races and events like Hyrox have gained massive popularity in Quebec. These events combine endurance, strength, strategy… and often, a lot of mud. Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or just looking to step outside your comfort zone, these challenges have become a go-to for testing physical capacity and mental grit.

Hyrox: The Ultimate Hybrid Competition

Hyrox is a German-born fitness competition that’s quickly gone global. The concept: alternating 8 km of running with 8 functional workout stations like ski-erg, walking lunges, rowing, sled pushes, and more. The race is done indoors, timed, and standardized.

What makes Hyrox unique is that it’s the same format everywhere in the world. That means your time from Montreal can be compared with someone else’s from Berlin or New York. It’s a great way to measure full-body fitness.

Spartan Race: Mud, Ropes, and Walls

Spartan Race is one of the world’s most recognized obstacle races. It comes in several formats: Sprint (5 km), Super (10 km), Beast (21 km), Ultra (50 km), and even races for kids. Obstacles include wall climbs, rope ascents, heavy carries, and the infamous spear throw.

These races require more than just physical strength. Strategy, pacing, and mental resilience are key to crossing the finish line without penalties.

Why Are These Events So Popular?

Event Recap – HYROX Half Race from Hyrox Séries québec

On May 24 and 25, 2025, several athletes followed by NxtG took part in the Hyrox Series Québec, held at Olympia Performance in Montreal. The event brought together athletes of all levels who came to take on the unique challenge of the HYROX format. Participants competed across five divisions: men’s individual, women’s individual, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles.

Each category tested the competitors’ endurance, strength, and strategy in an electrifying atmosphere. Congratulations to the winners in each division, including Gabrielle Pépin (0:31:50) and Cédric Beaulieu (0:27:47), who took first place in the women’s and men’s solo categories, as well as Jessica Lacasse and Sophie Spénard (0:32:04) and William Leroy and Sébastien Boilard (0:26:56), who won the women’s and men’s doubles categories.

Well done to everyone who rose to the challenge! Thanks to their preparation and the support offered in our clinic, some achieved personal records, while others proudly completed their very first race. A memorable day that once again shows the power of well-structured training!
