Physiotherapy with Reformer Pilates

Reformer: Heal, Move, Perform Better

What is Reformer Pilates?

Reformer Pilates is an exercise method using a specialized machine, the Reformer, designed to improve strength, flexibility, and balance. This apparatus features a mobile carriage on rails, adjustable springs, straps, and bars, allowing for a wide variety of exercises performed lying down, seated, or standing.

Integrated into physiotherapy, the Reformer offers a complete workout with no harmful impact on joints. It engages multiple muscle groups simultaneously, strengthens stabilizing muscles, and improves posture. This approach is particularly beneficial for post-injury rehabilitation, injury prevention, and enhancing physical performance.

The Physiotherapy Approach

Reformer Pilates physiotherapy sessions are tailored to meet the specific needs of each individual, whether you’re an athlete looking to boost performance or someone seeking to increase mobility and reduce musculoskeletal pain. Guided by our qualified professionals, the exercises are adapted to target specific areas requiring attention, ensuring a safe and effective workout.

Reformer Pilates in physiotherapy combines Pilates principles with specialized equipment to provide a holistic approach to physical health, promoting rehabilitation, injury prevention, and overall fitness improvement.

How Does a Reformer Pilates Physiotherapy Session Work?

To start with Reformer Pilates, an initial physiotherapy evaluation in our clinic at Saint-Henri with our physiotherapist Thalie or another professional is required to identify your needs.

In your second session, your physiotherapist will guide you in using the Reformer Pilates based on your goals and provide home exercises to extend the benefits.

Initially, weekly or biweekly sessions are recommended to build your exercise repertoire. The program will then be adjusted every two weeks or monthly based on your progress.

Reformer Pilates physiotherapy sessions may be reimbursed by private insurance, depending on your coverage. Speak to your physiotherapist for more details.
